The Music Business Management program at Durham College is one-stopshopping for anyone interested in a career in the exciting business world of music.The program prepares students to manage the business aspects of all entertainment enterprises with an emphasis on the music industry.
Change always occurs in this business, and this program ensures that graduates are prepared to work in areas such as:
- Artist management and booking;
- Entrepreneurship;Event planning;
- Marketing, promotion and publicity;
- Music publishing;
- Rights management;
- Tour management; and
- Venue management.
Songwriters and performers also enrol in this program to gain a well-rounded view of the business to support their creative pursuits. Opportunities are provided both on and off campus to gain practical experience in planning events, seminars, and showcases, as well as other entertainment business initiatives of choice.
Field placements at industry organizations help to complete the students' exposure to the industry and provide valuable networking opportunities. Music Business Management graduates are a step above the competition and hit the ground running, equipped with the knowledge, skills and real experience needed to jump into leadership roles in the industry.
